The Gippeswyk Singers were on fine vocal form, presenting an eclectic programme of
carols, classics and a magnificent work by Bob Chilcott, Little Jazz Mass, for choir
and a highly accomplished rhythm section. Conductor Geoff Lavery guided the singers
impeccably throughout giving us excellent diction, beautiful dynamic control and
really lovely musical phrasing which made every piece have a pulse and a purpose.
It was hard not to sing along. Luckily we did not have to wait long for that,as the
evening was rounded off with an Oliver medley. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Please Sir,
can I have some more?
GERONTIUS AT SNAPE
Many congratulations to you, Geoff, for an exhilarating performance... marvellous
to see a full auditorium.
Wow, what a performance! The Choirs were so strong....You should feel extremely proud.
from emails from an appreciative audience
The performance was a tour de force which held the audience spellbound throughout,
leading at the end to a rousing and prolonged thank you from the audience accompanied
by cheers, whistles and calls for more.......the musicians and singers clearly put
their heart and soul in to this performance....this was locally based amateur choral
singing at its very best.
